The Overhyped Celebrity

Ever wondered why petty celebs are so over-hyped? C'mon as a human race don't we have other options-scientists, inventors, entrepreneurs, philosophers, professors, social workers, tech geeks, etc. Even the simple mason who helps you to build your house is actually more important and necessary than them.

Yes, they provide entertainment and cheap thrills so what's the big deal? You can get similar stuff in any amusement park/ disc for a few bucks. Are they really a necessity for us? No, but they are a kind of necessity for the companies who want to dump their products to us. Also, the media (newspapers, TV, and films, etc.) acts as the virtual temple of these pseudo gods. Obviously, the only thing the media considers is their rating points that again acts as a benchmark to gain ads.

Now, even the political parties are getting them on board. I am scared of the day when a flimsy actor will be seated as the prime minister and thus ru(i)n the nation.

We need to change our attitude. We have to understand that they are just entertainers. We may like their attention-drawing skills but surely ought not to worship them.

A suggestive read would be Paulo Coelho's- "The Winner Stands Alone". Check it out, the author rips apart the fashion and film industry along with other conspirators.
