Importance of Health

“It is health that is the real wealth, and not pieces of gold and silver.” – Mahatma Gandhi. The quote from Gandhi summarises the importance of health in a nutshell. Still, here are a few pointers to accentuate the significance.

Protects from suffering

If you are not taking care of your health, then it would gradually deteriorate, and your immunity would be weakened. Sooner or later, you would bear the consequences in the form of diseases. Diseases would trouble you in the form of ache, disability, deformity, and even death. In contrast, you can avoid such suffering by taking proper care of your health.

Improves you psychologically

Healthy people due to the absence of health problems are generally comfortable and thus happier than their unhealthy counterparts. Good health also improves their ability and energy levels. They enjoy their personal lives and intimacy better too. Overall, they are more in control of their lives.

Finally, let's conclude with a saying from B.K.S. Iyengar, which redefines health and also reveals its importance – “Health is a state of complete harmony of the body, mind, and spirit. When one is free from physical disabilities and mental distractions, the gates of the soul open.”
